Supporting Schools

MirrorMe

Mirror Me, a program to recruit outstanding teachers of the future will begin its pilot year during the 2022-23 school year. Mirror Me is designed to diversify classrooms and enable more students to see themselves in the teachers they learn from each day. Fifty-four percent of CCPS students identify as students of color, while only 19% of CCPS teachers identify as people of color. This program is designed to mentor and support future teachers of color through high school and college and ultimately bring them back to CCPS as full-time teachers.

In the pilot year, there are 13 high school and college students who will take part in Mirror Me. CCPS has partnered with VCU and VSU to offer reduced tuition through scholarships and financial aid for these Mirror Me students. Students will graduate with an education license and an assignment to teach for at least two years in CCPS.
